The facade of an old pharmacy hidden behind some trees may not denounce the buzz inside those doors. In front of Domplatz, the famous square in Hamburg, there is Brooklyn Burger Bar. As you enter, the first thing you notice is a huge sign. “No sleep till” it says, in shiny yellow lights, over the bar with vintage-rustic walls. After that, you feel invited to try at least one of their many special cocktails.
This mix of bar and restaurant, in a more intimistic ambiance than most burger restaurants is part of Brooklyn Burger Bar’s charm. On a wall, a movie theater sign says “people who love to eat are always the best people”. Right! Immediate identification.
But how about the menu? Is it really good? Yes! Both drinks and burgers are delicious and served in generous portions. The pulled pork burger and chimichurri burger are wonderful! I also recommend sweet potatoes french fries as side dishes. If just like me, you’re not so into sweet drinks, I suggest you try cucumber mojito.
In the Summer, tables outside and colorful string lights create a pleasant small village atmosphere in the middle of Hamburg. Brooklyn Burger Bar is located in a strategic point: close to Hamburg Town Hall (Rathaus), to Mönckebergstraße (the shopping street), and to Saint Peter Church (Sankt-Petri-Kirche). At night, the restaurant is most of the times, full. It’s possible to make reservations, but not for the lunch time (from 12 pm to 3 pm).
